Local attorney to wear Rey Feo crown in 2010
A San Antonio attorney with what he calls "an insatiable desire to give back" is to wear the crown of el Rey Feo LXII for Fiesta 2010.
Baltazar "Walter" Serna was proclaimed the new "Ugly King" by LULAC Council No. 2 Saturday evening in a fundraising dinner at La Villita Assembly Hall. He and Bill Drain, a San Antonio event producer and two-time former Mud King, had been competing since May to raise funds for scholarships.
Every donation Serna received "will take us all one step further in educating the leaders of tomorrow," he said.
Serna is a graduate of St. Mary's University and received his law degree from the Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law, Houston, in
1987. He serves on the VIA board, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce board, the Metropolitan Planning Organization and City of San Antonio 16 de Septiembre Commission. He and his wife, Debbie, have two children.
Each of the two Rey Feo candidates had to raise at least $175,000.
